Class Description
For beginners, Chess Basics will teach you everything you need to start your chess journey properly. Our coach started learning chess at the age of 5, he became the New York State champion of his age group when he was 6. He’d like to show you how he did it and most importantly, to pass his passion for chess on to you. The topics are listed below (May adjust depending on students level). Each lesson comes with homework, which will be reviewed the next class. Online tournaments will be arranged among all the students. 1. Pieces, Board, and Notation 2. How pieces move and capture 3. Attacking and Defending 4. Check and Getting out of Check 5. One move Checkmate 6. Check, Checkmate, and Stalemate 7. Piece Value and Fair/Favorable Trade 8. Twofold Attack 9. The Fork (Intro level) 10. The Pins (Intro level) 11. The Skewers (Intro level) 12. Discovered Attack (Intro level) 13. Castle, En passant, and Promotion 14. Opening Principles 15.
